Enough already

Submitted by EastCoastMom on September 10, 2008 - 05:28.

So I am completely over this milestone and all the sleeping issues it has caused. Things were looking better after a week of S waking and getting upset about sitting and crawling all over his crib but last night was a disaster. Luckily my husband said he would be the point person for laying S back down to settle him. Maybe his new tooth is bothering him too and maybe he was chilly but either way, he woke 4-5 times and then at 6am upset but ready for the day.

Up all night...

Submitted by EastCoastMom on September 4, 2008 - 05:52.

So my son is crawling and while I love that, I don't love being up at ungodly hours placing him back down after he gets up and cant seem to get himself back down. I went through this with my daughter but somehow you forget (thankfully). He is also getting tooth #3 and is refusing solids so we are back to formula just when he needs to be eating finger foods, etc. He isn't a stubborn baby and each day is getting better.

Potty Princess

Submitted by EastCoastMom on August 20, 2008 - 17:10.

One day my son stacks blocks and the next day my daughter owns the potty! I am so happy that her potty training is going so well...she is really trying. I was nervous driving to my friends house for our weekly play date but little miss thing went to the potty right before we left the house and did very well. I did put down a little piddle pad on the car seat just in case. This is only the 3rd day we have used panties on her so I wasn't 100% sure how she'd do.

The big guy impresses

Submitted by EastCoastMom on August 18, 2008 - 18:13.

My son impressed me today. Well, to be honest he finds a way to impress me everyday but today he did something amazing. He stacked blocks. He's 9 months old. I took out the small wooden blocks I got at Pottery Barn when my daughter was little and he took to them right away. He seemed fascinated with them and reached his little hand out to stack one after watching me for a bit. I cheered in delight and he quickly clapped his hands in response.

Dr Richard Ferber-a lecture on solving your child's sleep problems

Submitted by EastCoastMom on April 22, 2008 - 05:09.

I was lucky enough to attend a lecture by Dr Richard Ferber, Director of the Center for Pediatric Sleep Disorders at Children's Hospital in Boston and author of Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems, recently and brushed up on my knowledge (via Dr Ferber and other's books) on sleep and how to achieve it in babies and toddlers. I have been blessed with two good sleepers but that doesnt mean we havent had our late nights and frustrating moments. In our family sleep and nutrition rank highest on the "must get right" scale. While Dr Ferber is clearly a well respected doctor and author, he is not an excellent public speaker. If you had not read his book, the lecture would have been too broad and short for you to gain much insight. Having said that, I am glad I went because just by the amount of parents who brought their kids to the 7:30pm lecture, I could tell we had it good!

Pre Pre School-an update

Submitted by EastCoastMom on October 19, 2007 - 06:01.

An update to my previous article on my 2 year old starting "pre" pre school at a private school in the next town over from ours...it is going so well! Everything I wanted to happen for her has. She asks for her teachers every morning even though she only goes 3 mornings a week, she talks about the things she does at school and she has become more confident and talkative. The confidence factor was my biggest reason for sending her to school.

Going through the potty training / learning process with child number two

Submitted by WestCoastMom on March 26, 2007 - 21:01.

Our youngest, N, is now wearing underwear during the day. Like, his brother, he started using the potty occasionally at an early age (around 18 months). We assumed it was going to take a while so we didn't pay much attention to it, unlike his older brother who we thought would be wearing underwear any minute so we rushed him off to the potty all the time. I think because it didn't become a game, we didn't visit every restaurant and plane bathroom. Or, it could be that since we now have two active boys, we travel and go out much less so their hasn't been as many opportunities to investigate every toilet and tampon container in our area...
