Baby's First Cold

Submitted by EastCoastMom on January 14, 2008 - 11:49.

My son is 11 weeks old and while we just celebrated a full nights sleep, we also morned the arrival of his first cold. I was extremely annal about my toddler going near him the first few weeks and have been a hand washing fanatic since my daughter was born two years ago. Sometimes bugs just get through the barrier of hand washing, cautious sneezing and coughing and good vitamins. My son is doing so well, all things considering. I am using a bulb syringe (a must have!), saline spray and the swing to help us all get through it. I used the bulb syringe a lot on my toddler before she understood the whole nose blowing concept but now she is a pro but still asks to hold it when I use it for my son. I hope my son's sniffles stay just that and dont move into a cough or fever.....winter has arrived on the east coast!

The bulb syringe and lots of sleep did the trick. Also, I am beginning to research and really believe that the probiotics and live and active cultures in the yogurt and yogurt drinks my daughter has every day helps control her colds to some degree. I will do more research and do a post on it soon.
