More Barefoot Books Suggestions - Fundraiser and giveaway end on Saturday

Submitted by WestCoastMom on August 30, 2007 - 21:36.

Our Barefoot Books giveaway and fundraiser end this Saturday so I thought I'd offer a few more suggestions. To participate in the fundraiser, check out books from our favorite Barefoot Books stall holder and enter the event code EV2. To enter the giveaway, please see Back-to-School Giveaway, part 1...

To find these books, click on the images and then use the search box on the site to find the titles.

  • Spanish selection books. We own Nos vamos a México (Off We Go to Mexico) but I don't understand Spanish, yet, so I recommend getting both the Spanish and English versions. We also recommend Oso en casa (Bear at Home), and classic children's stories in Spanish and English such as Los tres chivitos gruff (Three Billy Goats Gruff) and La gallinita roja y la espiga de trigo (Little Red Hen And The Ear Of Wheat).

  • Gift books - I like to keep a few interesting books around to give as gifts. Many of these books I've already mentioned but here are a few more for mixed ages. The Great Race - The Story of the Chinese Zodiac "Race long with Rat, Monkey, Dragon, and their companions while discovering the origin of the Chinese Zodiac. This bright and colorful book includes intriguing notes about the Chinese calendar, the festivals, and the animal that rules each year."

  • What's This? - "Share the excitement of a small girl who discovers how a tiny seed gradually grows into a beautiful sunflower, and how the sunflower makes new seeds for the following year. Caroline Mockford’s delightful text and endearing illustrations make a marvellous introduction to the way in which plants grow. For teachers and parents, there is also a page of helpful advice on cultivating seeds and bulbs and on how to grow a sunflower den."

  • Yoga Pretzels 50 Fun Yoga Activities for Kids & Grownups - The cards have fun yoga poses on them that are generally child-friendly. I like to let each child pick a random card and then we all try to do that pose. We also use the different types of breathing cards. When I get angry in the car I ask the kids to do the breathing exercises with me to calm down and it usually works.

  • I'm excited to buy the Barefoot Book of Stories From The Opera and Adventures of Odysseus for our family. And I will probably end up buying the The Barefoot Book of Ballet Stories for a friend's daughter so I can read it with her.

I just received the books I ordered and we love them! The colors are great and the stories perfect to read with my toddler or for a new reader to read alone. I will buy more and also buy some as gifts.
