High Maintenance Mom

We're partway through the Barefoot Books giveaway and fundraiser. Our suggestions for the week include the Cleo the Cat books for younger children, almost all of the Barefoot story books with audio CDs, and several of the counting books.   Any of the Cleo the Cat books. Both my kids loved Come Here Cleo. Cleo's Alphabet Book has pictures to go along with each letter but the words do not tell you what the picture is so the kids can guess while you read. It also comes with a poster. (I bought it for my parent's alphabet book collection)
• 
  One Moose, Twenty Mice is available in English and Spanish, Un alce, veinte ratones. I like how the book goes to 20 and there is a cat to find on each page. Another book where kids get to search for the cat is called, Where's The Cat?. One of the teachers in the infant room made their own version of this book for the kids since they all loved it so much.

  We also like We All Went on Safari, a counting book through the grasslands of Tanzania. In it, you meet several animals and learn how to count from one to ten in both English and Swahili. The book is also available in Spanish, Nos Fuimos Todos de Safari.

  For older kids, there are great books with audio CDs. We listen to many of them in the car. Our favorites include The Barefoot Book of Pirates, The Barefoot Book of Knights, and The Shakespeare Storybook. Friends of ours with girls like the The Barefoot Book of Princesses and The Barefoot Book of Fairy Tales. A great book about conquering fear is The Barefoot Book of Monsters.
