Veggie Booty Recall

Submitted by EastCoastMom on June 29, 2007 - 09:39.

The recent recall of Veggie Booty an all natural, vegetarian snack made of puffed rice and corn (this one with spinach and kale) made me furious. Yes, furious! I am pregnant and have a 20 month old and do everything I can to eat right for my unborn child and buy foods that are good and fun for my toddler and my husband. So, I go out and buy organic this, all natural that and sleep a little better at night. Then I turn on the news only to see that a food I felt very safe with is being recalled for salmonella contamination. That could have killed my unborn child and seriously affected my toddler. I know Robert's American Gourmet (the makers of Veggie Booty and other Booty snacks) did not set out to have their food items recalled but I still cant help but be very angry and frustrated. I guess the bottom line is, if you cant trust all natural and/or organic food items....what can you trust. Maybe my neighbor has it right....stick to your local farmer's garden basics! For now I will return the unused portion of my Veggie Booty to the store where it was purchased for a refund and be thankful none of us got sick. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I love veggie booty and am bummed by the recall. I'm even more bummed by the random items that are included in some of the products from China. Today is one of those days the responsibilities of parenthood are difficult.
