High Maintenance Mom

Since our giveaway this month is for younger children's books. I thought I would include a few books we love for older kids.

The Water Hole is a beautifully illustrated animal counting book. The animals come to drink from the water hole as it shrinks through the dry season. Then, after it rains, the water returns. My kids love this book. There are hidden animals in each picture that are fun to find, and each page has animals from a different locality. All of Graeme Base's books are beautiful and I don't think you can go wrong with any of them!

One of N's teachers is reading the Magic Tree House books to the kids at nap time. I've started working through the books before bed and the kids love them. They are short enough to finish in a few days but contain enough content that the kids are learning a little bit about each book topic. Because of the Magic Tree House books we are talking about lots of new and exciting subjects.

We have several Barefoot Books and they all have beautiful illustrations. This one contains some of my favorite poems, each with an amazing image for kids to enjoy. It's a fabulous way to introduce kids to the classics.
