Spaghetti and jam

I really wanted to whole family to eat dinner together this evening and it's been challenging in the past few weeks as we've all been fighting some horrible cold that makes us cranky. I made lasagna and heated up the leftover spaghetti for anyone who didn't like their noodles pre-mixed with sauce, meat, and cheese. I also gave both kids cups of diluted apple juice (a treat) in special Thomas cups. The issue was that I had used all the sauce in the lasagna so B started to whine and cry before he was completely in his seat...

To try to remedy the situation, S asked what B would like on his spaghetti, which led to more crying. To make B laugh, S asked if B would like jam on his spaghetti. B said yes. So, we were trapped. S got out the raspberry jam, which was referred to as strawberry, and we had B test his new delicacy before mixing it with his entire bowl. B said he liked it and asked, politely even, for more jam in his bowl.

N then decided he needed something on his spagetti. It turned out that N wanted pesto, which seemed like a good choice. Once the pesto was on his spaghetti, he started to complain about it and requested jam on top of the pesto. When we refused, he asked for jam on his eggs. We finally got him to eat some jam on bread. That was the end of the pesto. N ended up eating the bread and B had one and a half bowls of spagetti with jam. After explaining that spaghetti and jam is a special treat, we quickly left the kitchen hoping to return to more traditional food tomorrow morning.
