Back-to-School time and Target Dollar Shop

Back-to-School sales make August one of my favorite times of the year. My next favorite time could possibly be mid-September when all the school supplies are discounted even more. I love paper products and often want new notebooks, pens, pencils, and crayons for myself. Having kids, means that I get to participate in the Back-to-School frenzy, which appears to be much more fun with younger kids who don't need anything than older kids who have lists of specific items they are supposed to bring on the first day of school...

I was at Target the other day and bought more notebooks for the kids (10 for $1 through August 12th at our store). They also had the huge crayola display with the new twistable pencils, which we are going to use on our car trip, and twistable crayons, which are great in cooler temperatures but probably melt just like normal crayons in a 100 degree + car. Additional fun Back-to-School items include fun shapes ice packs, lunch boxes (I still recommend plastic over the vinyl ones - see Hate the smell of curdled milk? Try plastic lunch boxes), and storage items.

If you are thinking of doing any type of birthday party with crafts, you might consider checking out the school supplies areas. Washable markers and notebooks make great giveaways. Thinking of goodie bags and distractions for traveling, if you are near a Michael's, they also have some fun craft activities in the one to eight dollar range.

Here are a few items from the Dollar Spot

  • Activity books - Science, Addition, Subtraction, States, Animals
  • Magnets and Write-on-Wipe-off calendars
  • Small packs of stickers
  • Teacher supplies
  • Bag clips and other kitchen tools
