Boo-Hoo Boot Camp

It's amazing the things you say you will never do when you are a parent. I was against Dr Ferber's Cry It Out approach to sleep in its extreme and hoped it would never have to come to that. It has! I know my little girl so well and knew it wasnt until now at 6 months that she was ready. My husband declared it night #1 of Boo-Hoo Boot Camp and I cried more than my sweet girl did. My husband said all of the right things and held my hand as we waited and hoped we were doing the right thing. It turns out that we did and that night would be the first of many decisions we would make for her....I hope we get them all right! I think this week of sleep training is my real Mother's Day gift.

Just a follow up to say that Boo Hoo Boot Camp is still a success! We are now traveling each weekend to our summer home and our little one has transitioned well....the pack and play is OK for her and she did 10 hours straight of sleep without a peep. I am amazed at how well this works! I am glad we waited until she was 6 months....we are looking forward to the next milestone....

Sleep is wonderful. Congratulations! We just got back from the east coast and N was able to go right back to sleep after being moved from the car and having a diaper change. B wanted to play for a bit so he didn't get back to sleep until after midnight. Now we're working on helping B become a member of the Sleep Team. His friends go to sleep earlier than he does and he was the one who came up with the idea. Now we're trying to help him join the team so he can have sleepovers. It's 9:15 and he's still up. I know that we control when he goes to bed but he controls when he goes to sleep. I just hope he decides to go to sleep soon.
