Pampers: Amazon vs. Target

Submitted by HighMaintenanceMom on September 13, 2005 - 00:08.

I spent some time at Target comparing prices for Pampers with those from Amazon (see Pampers) and found Amazon to be more competitive even without their current sale. For a size 3 diaper the Amazon sale price works out to $0.22/diaper, their non-sale price is $0.24/diaper, and the best price I can find at our Target in Redwood City, CA is $0.26/diaper. See below for the rest of the prices plus links to buy the diapers from Amazon...

do you think that cloth diapers are better than disposable. im doing a project for my child development class. I was just wondering which is better. Which is cheaper. i know cheaper isn't better. but does the cost of washing really add up? I have always used disposable diapers and now (having looked at the prices) im considering using cloth. I just want an experienced mom's opinion. thanks

I used cloth for my son for the first 6 months- now that he is in daycare, I have to use disposables. I think cloth is cheaper (especially if you have more than one child) if you wash them yourself (not use a service, which is more expensive and very enviro unfriendly b/c they wash each diaper 3 times). I liked the Fuzzy Bunz the best- they are all-in-ones, so they are just like regular diapers, and they are nice soft fleece on baby's bottom. They are more expensive but certainly worth it. I also used rice paper liners, which made clean-up super easy. You just flush them and go- I also cut those in half for the first few months, making them more cost effective too. My bebe also went from 25th percentile to 95th in the first couple months, making the diapers a little less cost-effective since he outgrew them really fast. And they stay nice and white if you use oxy or bio-cleen (which I also like, b/c more enviro-friendly). And they never leaked for me....
