Preparing lunches for a week before I leave town
Submitted by HighMaintenanceMom on September 5, 2005 - 20:42.
I am out-of-town all week and have been preparing the house for my departure. I think I went to the grocery store three times this weekend, did four loads of laundry, and four loads in the dishwasher. In the past, I've left lots of notes about what to eat for dinner or pack for lunches and when I return, I find moldy food in the same containers I had left them in. This week is a test of the Lunch Cheat Sheets. I'm filling them out along with where to find the food and hoping the food I bought this weekend is eaten...
Tuesday lunch
- Leftover Mac and Cheese (Annie's shells) from Saturday night
- Cut strawberries
- Frozen peas (they will defrost in the fridge tonight and will help keep the lunches cool in the morning)
- Banana bread with butter - Campbell Bread Baking Co. (From Whole Foods. Their bread is amazing and tastes homemade. The banana is the nut-free one but we like them all)
- Cheese stick
Wednesday lunch
- Leftover meatloaf from Monday night
- Mini bagels (whole wheat from Trader Joes) with cream cheese
- Watermelon cut in chunks
- Snap peas
- Cheese stick
Thursday lunch
- Lunch meat (from Whole Foods) cut in squares
- Sliced cheese (in same container as meat for my kids)
- Crackers (365 Gold Rounds from Whole Foods or Rich Golden Rounds from Trader Joes)
- Olives (black, although my oldest likes all olives)
- Carrots cut into spears for B (3 yrs) and frozen edamame for Little Grab (1 yr)
- Cantaloupe (it will go bad if it isn't used before the weekend)
Friday lunch
- Hot dogs left over from Thursday night dinner (B has soccer on Thursday's now and hotdogs are easy to make afterwards so I'm assuming this part of the plan will work - Applegate Turkey hotdogs) with ketchup
- Mini bagel with butter
- Yogurt (Little Grab hasn't been eating yogurt so graham crackers instead)
- Frozen corn
- Blackberries
An extra lunch to give examples for an entire week
- Scrambled eggs
- Tortilla with melted cheese
- Cut cucumber (my kids like them without the skin)
- Blueberries
- Cheese stick
Super fast lunch
- Package of crackers like Quack'n bites
- Raisins
- Frozen corn
- Banana, apple, or applesauce
- Yogurt
- Cheese stick
I've made a few changes to the lunch sheet so I am reposting it. I'm not sure if I am going to have an internet connection, so if I don't, have a great week.
